Insurance Business Australia (IB) released the winners of the Brokers on the Top Insurance Underwriting Agencies 2023 special report. The report involved brokers selecting the agencies with outstanding products and services.

IB identified the best underwriting agencies in Australia by inviting brokers via social media and IB’s newsletter to answer a survey. More than 400 brokers participated, ranking their top three underwriting agencies across 16 major types of insurance. They also named the top insurance products offered by underwriting agencies and whether turnaround times, product ranges, and pricing had improved or worsened over the last 12 months.

IB also asked brokers to rank the importance of these seven different aspects of an underwriting agency’s service:

coverage;
overall service level;
turnaround times for new business;
turnaround times for claims;
broker support;
premium stability; and
commission structures.

MECON, which partners with brokers to deliver tailored solutions for a wide range of clients and industries, has made it to IB’s Brokers on the Top Insurance Underwriting Agencies 2023 list.

In an interview with IB, MECON CEO Glenn Ross (pictured above) emphasised the MECON team’s commitment to meeting the market’s needs for product education, technical assistance and transparency of cover.

“We have a very strong company culture focused on our people,” said Ross. “Most of our senior staff have been with the company for in excess of eight years and staff turnover is very low.”

He said this has enabled a high level of staff training and group cohesion.

“That enables MECON’s broker-facing staff to deliver informed and valuable assistance, particularly around our ever-evolving policy coverage,” said Ross.
