Update on the Construction Sector highlighting Subcontractors

Last week we heard The Carphone Warehouse screwed up on data of some 2.5 million customers, and yes I am one of them!!!.

Today apparently Local Authorities are losing data hand over fist, although their representative organisation would suggest otherwise.

Millions of names were lost on a CD left in a train a while ago, and shed loads of unwanted and unwarranted almost harassing hard mail not forgetting uninvited emails fill up our letter boxes and junk mail daily from where? Perhaps the information sold about us by the local authorities!!!

What can be done? Well on mail the damage has been done already, but on payments and credit card details I heard on the radio a simple but logical idea.

Given we have too many cards, just in case… of course!! and each should have a separate access code and password, which we hardly follow. A Guy on LBC radio said something so logical it should help all of us.

On payments via the internet only use one card and don’t use it for anything else. Then you can see straight away what looks irregular. That also means you only need remember one password or access code as well for online pourchases

The odds are you already do that for business purchasing but we seem to ignore all the rules of safety when we do our own thing in our own time.

Does it make the idea of Cyber Insurance something an idea worth exploring? After the event without cover it’s too late regardless of the event. But Cyber cover can be added to policies now or sold as a standalone insurance

People had thought this was something only happening to business but now it seems to be rife and whilst you can’t secure cover unless you are going to make secure as much as possible. In today’s world it seems to be the logical thing to accept; just as you have started I’m sure to cover hand as you enter your pin code when you go to a hole in the wall bank dispenser.

We change and many a time have to, simply to keep up however much we don’t want to.

The truth is crooks and no goods have no boundaries and we need to protect our money and businesses more than ever today and from here on.

Cyber Insurance can help, and whilst I hope none of you ever get stung we can’t go around anymore in a blissful daze assuming this green and pleasant land will look after us, and we have to do nothing as all will be ok. It won’t be.

Having been very cautious to the point being full on anti of Cyber Insurance and the preconditions that will apply. I have to admit to have turned my view simply because data loss is becoming too rampant and an expensive event for a company, and the fines that will be incurred, along with each one of us where someone accesses our home computers.

So please try to have a rethink on this too, and remember we only tell you how it is at Trident Insurance We would only look suggest something to you if we felt it was right for you; and on Cyber Cover it’s restricted yes, but we think now it’s really the right thing to do given there’s no alternative.
