Insurance Business Canada recently named the Top Insurance Brokers of 2023, selecting a group of professionals who have garnered respect and trust from their clientele through their commitment and skill in the insurance industry.

Among those honoured in the 2023 list is Adam Buss, of Canaccord Genuity Wealth & Estate Planning, who received recognition for his commitment to his role and his clients’ needs.

Speaking with IBC, Buss emphasized the importance of providing appropriate coverage and protection for his clients, which he said comes from conducting thorough financial planning and analysis.

He also stressed the importance of prioritizing the best interests of his clients, even at the expense of his own bottom line.

“I really want to make sure that I am getting them the right coverage for their situation,” he said. “I don’t want to shove unnecessary products down their throats. I am brutally honest to the point where I probably sacrifice commissions because of it.”

To advocate for clients, Buss said it is important to simplify complex information and deliver essential details without overwhelming technicalities.

“They just want to know at the end of the day, what do I need? I’ll try to keep it simple and explain those basics,” he said.

While Canaccord focuses on the high-net-worth market, Buss also maintained that he is committed to treating all clients equally.

“I’m agnostic; it doesn’t matter who’s coming to see me for insurance,” he said. “I’ll find the right strategy to put in place for them, whether it’s a cheap little deal or some fancy corporate insurance strategy that saves them money on tax and maximizes their estate.”

Based on feedback received by IBC, it’s clear that Buss’ clients appreciate this approach.
