Watch Carl ‘Foggy’ Fogarty during special anniversary interview to mark 1994 World Superbike Championship win

British sporting icon Carl Fogarty took a trip down memory lane, marking 30 years since his first World Superbike title success.

The Blackburn hero, fondly known as Foggy, welcomed Bikesure into his home for a special video interview about lifting the championship in 1994.

Our long-time brand ambassador was on great form as he covered a wide range of topics during the 15-minute piece, which you can watch below.

Foggy still gets goosebumps about first WSBK title win

The date was October 30, 1994, the location Phillip Island in Australia, when Fogarty finally realised his dream of becoming a WSBK title winner.

An agonising near miss 12 months earlier had served as extra motivation in 94 for the legendary racer who went on to win three more superbike crowns on the sport’s biggest stage before his retirement in 2000.

“I got goosebumps then,” said an emotional Foggy after interviewer Dave Vitty teed up the first question of the must-watch for fans.

“It was just emotional. Relief and emotion just spilling out from the year that I’d had. The start of the year, breaking my wrist at the second round. I had a few mechanical issues mid-season and it all coming down to the last race of the year on the other side of the world.

“Having just missed out on the championship in 1993, I should have won it, and for it all to come down to this. To cross that line and to realise your dream, something you’ve worked for for years – the emotion, floods of tears and relief, it was the biggest thing I can remember. Relief that I’d finally won it.”

Foggy pipped Scott Russell, the 93 champion, to lift the crown and discussed his relationship with the American during the interview that also looked back on another famous milestone – 10 years since he won reality TV show I’m a Celebrity.
