Vermont Mutual Insurance Group®, one of the oldest property and casualty insurers in the Northeast, has contributed more than $550,000 to local charities in 2022 through its Charitable Giving Fund. Since its inception in 2014, the Vermont Mutual Charitable Giving Fund has donated more than $3.5 Million to help support organizations in communities where they do business, including $1 million in COVID-19 relief efforts in the state of Vermont.

The Vermont Mutual Insurance Group Charitable Giving Fund (the “Fund”) was established with the express purpose of contributing to non-profit organizations that serve communities through one of the following four initiatives:

Promote Education: Examples may include traditional and non-traditional opportunities focused on inspiring academic excellence, leadership and community service.

Foster Youth: Examples may include teaching and modeling positive life skills.

Community-based: Programs that build better communities in which to live and work.

Satisfy Basic Needs: Examples may include affordable housing, homelessness and hunger.

Vermont Mutual made grants to more than 225 organizations. One notable donation last year was a $50,000 grant to the Nursing Pathways Program at Central Vermont Medical Center. Like many states, Vermont has been dealing with a critical nursing shortage, and now, thanks to the Nursing Pathways Program and many other charitable contributions, entering into a career in nursing is a more affordable pursuit.

Dan Bridge, Vermont Mutual’s President and CEO remarked “The impact of the pandemic and the rising inflation rates we are presently experiencing have impacted individuals, families and communities across the country. Especially vulnerable are the organizations that provide much needed assistance in these communities. Vermont Mutual, through our Charitable Giving Fund, is proud to continue to support these organizations, especially in these increasingly challenging times.”
