Verisk, the insurance and reinsurance market claims, data and technology focused service provider, has named two new leadership appointments within its PCS (Property Claim Services) business unit, in the wake of the departure of former PCS leader Tom Johansmeyer.

The announcement sees long-standing PCS executives Ted Gregory and Alex Mican stepping up to assume new roles and share responsibility for driving forwards PCS operations, product and strategy.

As Artemis reported at the start of May, reinsurance broker Inver Re hired Tom Johansmeyer from Verisk’s PCS unit, to become the brokers’ new Global Head of Index products.

Gregory and Mican each have a decade of experience at Verisk and between them have driven many of PCS’ most important innovations during that time.

This includes such new product launches as catastrophe loss reporting for Japan, to specialty lines reporting like marine, energy, and aviation, as well as the development of the industry’s first cyber insurance exposure platform.

Each will now assume new leadership roles, providing continuity within PCS and Verisk, while meaning it’s business as usual for PCS clients.

Ted Gregory takes on the role of head of global PCS operations, giving him sole responsibility for the leadership of PCS’s property catastrophe and global loss reporting processes.

Gregory has been at PCS since 2013 as operations manager and has played a key role in the expansion of PCS property-catastrophe services to new regions, particularly Mexico and the Asia-Pacific region, while also ensuring processes for reporting data in key markets like the United States are robust.

Alex Mican moves into the role of head of global strategy and growth for PCS, which will involve leading all client-facing activity, new product and market development, as well as becoming the primary touchpoint for reinsurance and insurance linked securities (ILS) activities.

Mican has been at Verisk since 2014, initially working as a sales development analyst, then moving to PCS in 2016.

Since then, Mican has led the development of a number of new products, including the global specialty lines data services – most recently PCS Global Aviation.

Aaron Brunko, president of Verisk Property Estimating Solutions commented, “I have admired PCS since my earliest days at Verisk, and it has been a privilege to support the team’s continued growth.

“Alex and Ted are exceptional leaders and innovators, and I look forward to helping them achieve continued and profound success in this new chapter for PCS.”

PCS is a key provider of data to the catastrophe bond, insurance-linked securities (ILS) and industry-loss warranty (ILW) markets, with its data used in triggers and the company acting as a reporting and calculation agent for transactions.
