A city situated in the northern part of Oklahoma, Broken Arrow is a beautiful mélange of historical sites and modern developments. The city is the largest suburb of the Tulsa County and one of the largest in the state featuring a population of more than 100, 000.

Long before the booming advancement, Broken Arrow’s economy was centered to agriculture. It was the only source, but over the span of years, it opened its doors to different businesses and industries― from retail to industrial. Companies like Blue Bell Creameries, Bass Pro Shops, Windstream Communications, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and FlightSafety International topped the list of vital contributors. These entities anchor the expansion of new hotels, shopping malls, restaurants, and offices into the city. Accordingly, the diversity in the economy created an extensive range of job opportunities for the locals, especially that the city has a high population.

Despite the flourishing financial resources, the government of Broken Arrow made sure that there’s still a balance between the history and contemporary beauty. Hence, the city implemented the downtown redevelopment that revives the historic lure, particularly in the downtown area. The downtown revitalization plan features everything that helps in reviving the historic area of Broken Arrow. The proposal includes the construction of a modern performing arts center, a 3-storey museum, a farmer’s market, along with the renovation of Central Middle School into a development center, and creation of new buildings and town-homes. Aside from numerous site constructions, landscape improvement is also a top priority, which is not just limited to expansion of parks, but also moving of shops and stalls to downtown area.

In 2007, one of the notable redevelopments in downtown Broken Arrow is the conversion of the distinguished 1904 Victorian home located on Main Street into a business site. And a year later, most proposals were made to life― new performing arts center, historical museum, and farmer’s market were opened to the public in 2008. And in 2012, the main street corridor in downtown was then renamed as the ‘Rose District’. The adaption of this redevelopment did not just recover the classical charm of Broken Arrow but also paved way for a more diverse economy in favor to the city. From this, the government has set standards and guidelines to ensure that new constructions will sit well with the historic layout of most structures in downtown.

The growth of downtown Broken Arrow continues to attract more people as well as more businesses. It becomes a cycle, and a more positive one. The high population in the city means more consumers, and of course more workforce, and more tax. The bigger the tax, the more it helps in the development of the city, particularly in the construction of infrastructures along with providing amenities to the residents. All these vital improvements keep the people happy and eventually attract new residents. And if you’re planning to visit the city for a vacation, expect for an exhilarating trip full of lively attractions and classical sites. Broken Arrow is definitely something you should look forward to.
