The Bridge appoints former IAG executive, expands practice
The Bridge International has appointed former IAG executive Ian Edgell to lead a new management consulting practice focused on insurance product, pricing and underwriting as the group expands its suite of services to assist firms facing a challenging environment.
Mr Edgell, who has a background as a chartered accountant, was with IAG for more than a decade and previously worked at consultancy AT Kearney.
The Bridge says insurers and underwriting agencies are navigating a complex and rapidly changing market, and claims inflation, flow on effects of increased reinsurance costs, regulatory interventions, and pricing promise investigations are putting pressure on pricing and affordability.
Companies have also found it increasingly difficult to find the expertise they need, making the launch of The Bridge’s new suite of services, and Mr Edgell joining the practice, even more valuable for insurers, the firm says.
“The challenges of the past two years have highlighted the need for insurers to adapt and innovate quickly,” The Bridge International Group CFO and Partner Commercial Services Stuart Brown said. “I am extremely excited that we have been able to attract someone of Ian’s calibre to our team.”
Mr Edgell has led strategic transformation projects across general insurance, and his expertise and credibility managing motor, compulsory third party, home and commercial portfolios for large national and state-based brands will be invaluable in assisting clients, The Bridge says.
The Bridge describes itself as a non-traditional management consulting team, comprising industry practitioners with extensive experience, including senior leaders, executives, and CEOs who have walked in the shoes of their clients. The business operates in Australia, New Zealand, the UK and North America.
“I am thrilled to be a part of The Bridge International’s experienced team during a time of complex challenges and difficult operating conditions for insurers,” Mr Edgell said. “I am eager to collaborate with our clients and provide them with the support and guidance they need to successfully navigate these conditions.”
The Bridge, which works across multiple industries, has assisted insurers including Hollard, RAA, QBE, Suncorp, IAG, Swiss Re and Allianz, its website shows.
