The Allstate Foundation Awards $2 Million in Economic Opportunity Grants

November 6, 2023 – The Allstate Foundation has announced 20 recipients of its second annual open request for proposals. This year, the RPF focus was nonprofits creating Inclusive Economic Opportunity. They were chosen from more than 900 nonprofit organizations that applied. These unrestricted grants support organizations that promote economic inclusion and financial empowerment and create pathways to success for all individuals, especially those from underrepresented communities.

The 20 nonprofits will receive a total of $2M for their work to break down barriers to economic opportunity and create a more inclusive society. In no particular order, the recipients are:

For their time and aligned work, The Foundation is also recognizing an additional 171  nonprofit finalists with $3,000 honorary grants.

“This open request for proposals process has allowed us to recognize exceptional nonprofits in the past. If we had traditional restrictions/guardrails in place, we may not have received grant applications from these teams who are making real change,“ Courtenay Barton, racial equity program officer at The Allstate Foundation, said. “These incredible organizations will use their expertise and these unrestricted funds to catapult the positive impact they make on individuals and communities.”

The Allstate Foundation empowers communities and works toward a society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. The Foundation’s racial equity program is focused on workforce development, specifically working to close the racial opportunity gap for careers with thriving wages. The Foundation invests in:  

Nonprofit organizations helping people overcome barriers and providing opportunities to thriving-wage employment,

Entrepreneurs advancing equity through innovative workforce development strategies, 

Building greater understanding, momentum and buy-in among employers for promising practices addressing racial equity through workforce opportunity and development programs – which can help drive better business results.

Since 2021, The Allstate Foundation invested an $20 million in nonprofit partnerships focused on advancing racial equity through workforce opportunity and development. This work complements the work of the Allstate Corporation, including a number of commitments made to advance equity, such as: founding member of OneTen, member of the Second Chance Business Coalition, participant in P33 and signing CEO Action for Diversity and Inclusion pledge.
