Technology, claims and BIBA: A spotlight on Ciana Kenny

FloodFlash

We spoke to Ciana Kenny (pictured), who heads up our UK Distribution team. We asked her a few questions about working at FloodFlash, as well as the upcoming BIBA conference.

Kirsty Hume: What were you doing before you joined FloodFlash?

Ciana Kenny: ‘I’ve worked in B2B sales roles for 10 years, starting out at Red Letter Days, and then moving into insurance at the commercial motor insurance provider Zego. It was there I learnt more about the world of insurance, working closely with brokers as a Broker Distribution Manager.’

KH: What appealed to you about FloodFlash?

CK: ‘Having gained valuable experience at Zego, I knew I wanted to see more of the insurtech industry. What particularly attracted me to FloodFlash was the fact they were using technology to solve a growing problem and provide insurance to businesses who were otherwise left without. It’s a powerful mission, and one that really excited me.’

KH: One year later, what’s your favourite thing about your job?

CK: ‘The best thing is the variety of my days, no two are the same! Whether it’s meetings brokers, attending industry events (including the National Insurance Awards, pictured), or discussing a complex case with our underwriters, every day brings new challenges!’

KH: What would you say to any brokers or clients who are new to FloodFlash?

CK: ‘First, that FloodFlash can provide flood insurance to any business struggling to get complete cover – whether they’re facing an exclusion, an excess, or have limits imposed. Second, that our rapid claims provide a lifeline to individuals, businesses and communities impacted by flooding. Every single one of the businesses who we have paid have reopened, many within days of flooding. Third, that we’re here to help. Whether you need guidance on a quote, want to see case studies of similar businesses, or have any questions about how FloodFlash works, our expert team can support you.’

KH: It’s less than a month to BIBA, what are you most looking forward to?

CK: ‘While in-person meetings are still a regular part of my job, there’s nothing like meeting hundreds of new and existing brokers in just two days! It’s also great to see the whole team in action on the stand. We’ll be at stand C41 with giveaways and sensor demos, so do swing by if you’re there!’
