TAL launches Risk Academy 2022 program

COVID-19 will not stop Australian life insurer TAL from delivering flexible and focused education for financial advisers.

The firm has officially launched the TAL Risk Academy 2022 program, which is available at TAL’s adviser education platform, TAL Risk Academy. It offers more than 80 on-demand and live courses with learning pathways for advisers at every stage of the financial advice career, grouped into the following main areas:

Advice skills and training: Courses focused on entry-level to advanced advice strategies, technical expertise, and client engagement skills;
Business management: Courses focused on strategy and marketing to help advisers grow their business;
Education and professionalism: Courses focused on supporting advisers with the latest industry requirements from the Financial Adviser Exam to the Code of Ethics; and
Professional year: A structured program for new entrants, designed to build knowledge and key skills from risk advice and strategy to client conversations and exam preparation.

New courses include:

Income protection and ethics courses;
the new professional year program; and
an expanded library of CPD-accredited articles.

TAL Risk Academy was launched in 2015, and the program is continually reviewed and updated in response to adviser feedback and the dynamic industry landscape. Most of the courses are free, except for the Risk Academy Masterclasses that incur $55 that TAL donates to the Australian Business Community Network (ABCN) to help young Australians from lower socio-economic backgrounds access quality education.

Niall McConville, TAL general manager, retail distribution individual life, said TAL designed the 2022 program to provide a broader range of virtual, on-demand, and face-to-face courses – from entry-level foundation courses for those new to the financial advice industry through to advanced, technical topics for more experienced advisers.

“Now in its eighth year, we’re really proud to continue offering and evolving the TAL Risk Academy with flexible courses that are aligned to advisers’ current education needs,” McConville said.

The launch of the TAL Risk Academy 2022 program follows the launch of the life insurer’s summer learning program – also available on the adviser education platform – with over 60 on-demand options, including courses and CPD-accredited reading articles for use whenever and wherever advisers like.
