In his new role, Shahkarami will lead a team of insurance and data experts based in Munich. Their mission will be to provide property, specialty, and casualty solutions to clients of Swiss Re’s newly launched Reinsurance Solutions division.

Shahkarami joins Swiss Re from Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS), where he served as chief data officer. He holds a Ph.D. in structural engineering from the University of British Columbia, Canada, and has a background in civil engineering with applications in aerospace.

“We’re delighted to welcome Ali to our global Reinsurance Solutions team,” Higginbotham said. “With his extensive insurance knowledge, complemented by his outstanding data and technology background, Ali knows exactly our clients’ business and digital needs.
