The National Association of Professional Insurance Agents (PIA) has appointed Michael Skiados (pictured) as chief executive effective October 15.
A seasoned leader in association management, Skiados was picked via an extensive search process. He brings over two decades of experience in managing membership, education, marketing, and operations for various prominent associations.
Most recently, Skiados served as managing director of membership strategy and engagement at The American Institute of Architects.
Throughout his career, Skiados has been instrumental in growing membership numbers and fostering stronger connections among association chapters. His credentials include key positions at the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, and ASAE, The Center for Association Leadership.
In his new role at PIA, Skiados will prioritize enhancing services for members and affiliates, with a focus on expanding the organization’s education offerings and developing new products.
The new CEO will leverage the Certified Professional Insurance Agent designation and work closely with PIA’s carrier council, the PIA Partnership, as well as the technology council.
“We are thrilled to welcome him to PIA – his proven track record in innovation and growth will propel us to new levels of excellence.”
Gerald Hemphill, PIA national immediate past president and head of the search committee, echoed the sentiment, saying: “One of the most exciting things about Mike is his ability to understand what members want from their associations and develop ways to deliver on those unmet needs.
“This is a unique skill set that he has applied in other roles with significant results, and we’re eager for him to drive this forward at PIA.”
