Dave North (pictured) will step down as executive chair of claims management giant Sedgwick at the end of June but will remain as a board member.

Sedgwick’s president and chief executive from 1995 to 2020, North is credited for steering the company from $50 million in annual revenue to more than $4.6 billion. He led Sedgwick’s transformation from a 500-strong regional third-party claims administrator into a top-tier global provider employing over 33,000 people in 80 countries.

Looking back, North stated: “For the past 29 years, I’ve had the honor of working with a tremendously talented team of Sedgwick colleagues to develop cutting-edge solutions for clients and to share in the successes and opportunities we created.

“Together, we’ve established a customer-focused approach to managing claims and fostered a creative environment where people can grow, perform meaningful work, and serve the needs of our clients. Working at Sedgwick has been among the greatest privileges of my life, and I look forward to seeing the company’s ‘caring counts’ philosophy continue to flourish.”

A US Air Force veteran, North has received numerous accolades for his contributions over a career spanning four decades. His industry recognitions include the CLM Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018 and a commendation at the Spencer Educational Foundation’s 40th anniversary gala in 2019 for his support of risk management and insurance education.

Mike Arbour, CEO of Sedgwick, acknowledged North’s profound impact, saying: “Dave’s remarkable and transformational leadership has made Sedgwick what it is today. On behalf of the entire company, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dave for taking the claims profession to new heights and for his immeasurable contributions to the work we do each day.

“I am personally indebted to Dave for his mentorship and trust over the years, and I’m grateful he will continue to support me and our outstanding leadership team as a member of the Sedgwick board of directors.”

Kimberly George, Sedgwick’s global chief brand officer, added: “Dave is an inspirational leader who has made an indelible mark on our industry and paved the way for future generations of insurance and risk management professionals.”
