Schroders Capital hires Heinen as Global Head Business Development & Product
Asset manager Schroders Capital has announced a senior hire to drive business development and evolve the product offering at the firm, hiring Ingo Heinen from Intermediate Capital Group (ICG) as its new Global Head of Business Development and Product.
Schroders Capital now manages over $5 billion of assets in its insurance-linked securities (ILS) investment management business, which Heinen will now have under his business development and product remit.
Heinen has been hired to drive business development globally, working alongside the Schroders’ Client Group, while also leading the evolution and management of Schroders Capital’s products and solutions.
The focus will be on delivering market-leading investment solutions for clients, across the full range of Schroders Capital’s offering.
Schroders Capital’s global platform offers investor access to a wide variety of asset classes, including real estate, infrastructure and private equity, as well as private debt and credit alternatives investments.
The insurance-linked securities (ILS) and catastrophe bond offering sits under the Private Debt & Credit Alternatives business, of which Chair of ILS Stephan Ruoff is Co-Head.
In 2023, Schroders Capital generated $11.6 billion of fundraising across its suite of private market capabilities, the company said.
In the ILS and catastrophe bond fund management business, Schroders Capital grew its assets under management by more than $700 million over the course of 2023.
The investment manager recently also hit a new milestone of over $3 billion of catastrophe bond fund assets in its UCITS structured Schroder GAIA CAT Bond Fund.
The ILS business is a key source of diversification for Schroders Capital’s client-base of investors and Heinen’s new role will provide further business development focus across the firm.
Heinen was most recently the Head of Marketing and Client Relations, EMEA, at alternative asset manager Intermediate Capital Group (ICG), where he led the fundraising team across EMEA and was responsible for raising capital across private and liquid credit, private equity, real estate and infrastructure.
Prior to that, Heinen spent ten years at BlackRock leading a fundraising team for the alternative investments business in EMEA. He has also worked in derivatives structuring, product development, and fund-linked sales at RBS, Nomura, and Merrill Lynch.
Georg Wunderlin, Global Head of Private Assets, Schroders Capital, commented on the hire, “Ingo’s hire marks an important milestone, underpinning Schroders Capital’s growth ambitions in private markets as we aim to deliver the best investment solutions for our clients across the world. Ingo brings a wealth of business development and product experience from the top-tier of our industry and his arrival will greatly bolster our business at a time when investors globally are increasingly allocating to private markets to enhance the quality of their investment portfolios.”
Ingo Heinen, Global Head of Business Development and Product, Schroders Capital, added, “I am delighted to join Schroders Capital at a very exciting time; the business is at an inflection point having grown extensively over the past five years and this momentum is set to accelerate further as clients increasingly look to Schroders Capital for their private markets investment needs. I am looking forward to delivering the client perspective to Schroders Capital’s investment engine and to delivering Schroders Capital to private markets allocators globally in partnership with the existing teams.”
