Leadership moves effective in October

RT Specialty, the wholesale broking division of Ryan Specialty, has announced several leadership appointments taking effect on October 1.

Seth Johnson, who joined RT Specialty in 2019 through the acquisition of Atlantic Specialty Lines and has served as president of RT Binding Authority since 2021, will assume the position of RT Binding chief executive.

Jonathan Reiner is set to become CEO of RT ProExec, RT Specialty’s national professional and executive liability practice. Reiner has been with RT Specialty since its formation in 2010 and will continue his work as a broker and team leader. Meanwhile Rachelle Best, Chris Pass, and Patrick Richmond will remain as RT ProExec presidents.

In the national property practice, Hugh Mooney will be promoted to president while continuing his duties as regional executive vice president. Brenda Austenfeld, meanwhile, will continue to serve as CEO of RT National Property. Mooney has been with RT Specialty since its acquisition of All Risks in 2020.

Ryan Grimes will step into the role of president of RT Specialty’s national casualty practice while also keeping his regional executive vice president remit. Similar to Mooney, Grimes joined the company through the All Risks deal. Chris Houska will continue as RT National Casualty CEO.

A newly created role, executive vice president of carrier relations, will be filled by Leah Ohodnicki who joins from Ethos P&C. In this position, she will be in charge of RT Specialty’s relationships with carrier trading partners.

Tim Lomas, who has been with the company for nearly nine years, will be promoted to executive vice president of finance. Meanwhile Marya Propis will remain as executive vice president of retail distribution, a role she has held for almost three years.

The leadership appointments come on the heels of broader executive promotions at Ryan Specialty, also set to take effect on October 1. Tim Turner will transition to CEO of Ryan Specialtyv and chairman of RT Specialty, while Ed McCormack has been promoted to CEO of RT Specialty. Additionally, Brenda Austenfeld and Michael VanAcker will become co-presidents of RT Specialty.
