RSA appoints Gary Mason to drive technology transformation of its key operating and claims capabilities

RSA Insurance has announced (3 April 2023) that it has appointed Gary Mason as COO Delivery Director, effective immediately.

He will be responsible for contributing to the delivery of RSA’s strategic outperformance objectives, primarily by driving the technology transformation of the organisation’s key operating and claims capabilities to provide a leading customer service, by helping to deliver a simpler and more customer-centric experience.

This ambitious project includes the market-leading implementation of RSA’s new cloud-based Guidewire ClaimCenter as its new claims management system, which aims to deliver a simpler, more personal claims experience for customers.

Mr. Mason will report into Oliver Holden, Chief Information Officer at RSA, UK&I and will replace Richard Thompson, who is leaving the company after 12 years to move to the USA.

Mr. Mason has significant Insurance IT experience, having previously worked at IBM, Allianz and more recently Aviva, where he was the Claims CIO Partner. He has led numerous complex multi-year programmes of work, including Guidewire Claims implementations across Motor and Property for both Personal and Commercial lines.

Oliver Holden, Chief Information Officer at RSA commented: “With customer expectations continuing to evolve, the customer experience has increased in its importance as a competitive differentiator in our industry. That’s why tech and data are central to our outperformance business strategy and our ambition to provide more tailored insurance solutions that better meet our customers’ needs.

“I’m delighted to welcome Gary to the team. His in-depth experience of leading multi-year transformation change programmes, combined with his knowledge of successful Guidewire implementation, will be a real asset to our team.
