Red River Mutual has announced the winners of its Spruce Up Your Story community sponsorship initiative.
Ten communities across Manitoba and Saskatchewan were awarded over $150,000 to enhance and restore beloved community spaces.
This year’s winners encompass a diverse range of projects. The ten winning projects are:
A front porch for Central Station Community Centre in Winkler, MB
A canteen and kitchen upgrade for Lord Roberts Community Centre in Winnipeg, MB
An outdoor playground, multisport court and picnic area for Forrest Community Park in Forrest, MB
Beautification efforts, including painting, staining, and the planting of historically accurate foliage, for Settlers, Rails, and Trails Heritage Park in Argyle, MB
Greenspace upgrades to create a habitat for endangered monarch butterflies at Mary Montgomery School Greenspace in Virden, MB
Upgrades to flooring and energy efficient lighting at Blaine Lake Community Skating Rink in Blaine Lake, SK
Rink renovations for improved accessibility at Melfort & District Curling Rink in Melfort, SK
Shaded spaces and seating areas for Redvers & District Recreation Centre Swimming Pool in Redvers, SK
Upgrades to outdoor sports spaces at Stewart Valley Sportsground in Stewart Valley, SK
A community patio and greenspace for Thrive Community Support Circle in Winnipeg, MB
The projects will commence during the summer and will be supervised by Red River Mutual in collaboration with the respective community space.
The Spruce Up Your Story campaign evaluates renovation and beautification projects based on their community significance, commitment to sustainability, opportunities for volunteerism, and connections to local insurance brokerages.
“We’re thrilled to see the enthusiastic response this initiative is still getting in its fourth year, there were many worthwhile submissions, and it was hard to pick just 10 recipients,” said Red River Mutual CEO Brenda Gibson. “We’re excited to see the impact these projects will have in their communities.”
