RACQ is actively providing on-the-ground support to its members affected by severe weather conditions on the Gold Coast.

As of 12:30 pm on Jan. 3, RACQ had received a total of 3,894 insurance claims for the Gold Coast and Logan regions since the onset of severe weather on Dec. 23. These claims include 3,575 related to home and contents, and 319 for motor vehicles.

“Our Mobile Member Centre has relocated to Helensvale and is now open, and the team is ready to help members lodge claims and answer any questions they may have,” he said. “Members can also find us at the Upper Coomera Community Recovery Centre and at our branches at Helensvale, Robina, Beenleigh, and Elanora. Our teams are ready to support and assist members through the claims process.”

Locations and operating hours for the Mobile Member Centre and Upper Coomera Community Recovery Centre are as follows:

Mobile Member Centre: Westfield Helensvale Shopping Centre, 1-29 Millaroo Drive, Helensvale, open daily from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
Upper Coomera Community Recovery Centre: 90 Reserve Road, Upper Coomera, open daily from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm

Assessors and builders are actively engaged in the region, conducting make-safe repairs and assessments at affected homes. Claims are being prioritised based on urgency and individual circumstances.

Roadside assistance

In light of ongoing storms and potential rainfall throughout the week, RACQ urged drivers to exercise caution on the roads, allowing emergency responders and RACQ crews to operate safely. Despite road closures affecting the insurer’s roadside assistance teams, efforts are underway to reach individuals in need promptly.
