QBE Canada has introduced Kyle Gray (pictured) as its first-ever technical underwriter team lead for cyber, marking a significant step in the rollout of its enhanced cyber insurance product QCyberProtect.

The revamped policy provides comprehensive global coverage designed for mid-sized and large businesses, addressing a range of both established and emerging cyber risks spanning ransomware attacks, social engineering fraud, network security breaches, privacy violations, as well as IT and non-IT-related business interruption and reputational damage.

“Strategic investments in our cyber capabilities have strengthened our ability to shield our clients from the most pressing cyber threats,” said Andrew Horton, group chief executive of QBE Insurance. “This offering highlights our commitment to delivering globally consistent and practical solutions that address the ever-evolving cyber risks our customers face around the world.”

In addition to QCyberProtect, QBE is launching QCyberPrepare, a secure platform designed to help businesses manage their incident response plans. This digital “saferoom” enables clients to activate their response and securely communicate with their teams during a cyber event, enhancing overall preparedness and control before, during, and after an attack.

Gray, leading QBE’s cyber efforts in Canada, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. With 15 years in cyber underwriting, Gray has held key positions with the likes of Northbridge, Trisura, CNA, and Aviva Canada. Most recently, he served as vice president for cyber at Mosaic Insurance before joining QBE.

Gray reports to Richard Williams, underwriting manager for financial lines at QBE Canada.

Williams commented: “Canadian businesses know a cyber incident might disrupt their operations any time. They also know they need to tackle this threat at different levels, from IT setup to employee training. We’re proud to be able to provide another element of protection, by giving comprehensive insurance coverage coupled with the services they need to navigate end-to-end cybersecurity issues.”
