QBE has announced that Jeremy Lau will take on the role of chief underwriting officer for its Asian division, starting Aug. 1.

Lau (pictured), who will be based in Hong Kong, is set to work closely with Rob Kosova, CEO of QBE Asia, and Nick Hankin, chief underwriting officer for QBE International.

Who is Jeremy Lau?

Lau has more than 25 years of experience in the fields of actuarial science, underwriting, and distribution. He has been with QBE Asia since 2016, serving as chief actuary.

In his new capacity, Lau will oversee the underwriting strategy, governance, and performance for QBE Asia.

“I am delighted that the leadership team has shown confidence in me, and I do not take my added responsibilities lightly. QBE places great emphasis on talent and providing opportunities to all staff – my new appointment is testament to this. I look forward to closely collaborating with Rob and Nick moving forward,” Lau said.

“Jeremy’s leadership and deep understanding of underwriting and risk management will be instrumental in driving our strategic initiatives and strengthening our market position in the region. We are thrilled to have Jeremy continue this journey with us, and I am confident that Jeremy’s expertise and commitment will contribute significantly to our long-term growth and success here and globally,” he said.
