Premium Credit’s Owen Thomas named as Insurance United Against Dementia Ambassador

Premium Credit is pleased to announce their corporate sustainability partner, Alzheimer’s Society has named Chief Sales Officer, Owen Thomas as an Ambassador for Insurance United Against Dementia (IUAD), the fundraising and awareness campaign. The announcement coincides with Insurance Day for Dementia, the flagship event of Alzheimer’s Society and IUAD.

Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer – one in three people born today will go on to develop it. The Insurance Day for Dementia and the funds raised will help Alzheimer’s Society continue its vital work to end the devastation caused by dementia. IUAD has successfully raised £8.2m since its formation in 2017 and provides crucial support and vital funding for pioneering research into treatments, diagnosis, innovation and care.

Owen Thomas comments: “I am delighted to take up the role of IUAD Ambassador, it’s a real honour. Premium Credit is committed to supporting IUAD, and I’m proud to have taken on personal challenges and fundraising events like participation in the London Marathon and cycling Lands End to John O’Groats. Becoming an ambassador at this time allows me to further promote the fundraising drive to £10m and widening out IUAD’s presence across the whole of the UK through events like the BIBA Tour Of The Regions.”

Owen adds: “This year I’m getting out and moving as part of Challenge 900,000, the collective fundraiser to cover 900,000 steps in recognition of the more than 900,000 UK people who are currently living with dementia. As well as taking part I’ve been advocating that colleagues and people across our industry get involved too.

Chris Park, Development Boards Lead at Alzheimer’s Society commented: “We’re pleased to welcome Owen into his role as an IUAD Ambassador. We appreciate his efforts raising awareness of our work to help stop dementia devastating lives, and outlining the importance of personal and corporate fundraising support from those in the insurance sector.”

Premium Credit is a long-standing supporter of IUAD. As a purpose-led organisation, with a strong value and sustainability culture the business will be involved in the Insurance Day for Dementia once again this year. As well as fundraising activities Alzheimer’s Society will deliver a Dementia Friends information session to Premium Credit staff to recruit more people into the scheme, allowing them to practically help those affected.
