The Professional Insurance Agents of Wisconsin (PIA) recognized two legislators for their exceptional support of the insurance industry at a ceremony held at the Wisconsin State Capitol.

The annual PIAW Legislative Excellence Award was bestowed upon Representative Bob Donovan of the 84th Assembly District and Senator Dan Knodl of the 8th Senate District, acknowledging their significant contributions to legislation that aligns with the priorities of independent agents across the state.

Representative Donovan earned acclaim for his role in authoring Wisconsin Acts 1, 9, and 86 during the 2023-2024 Legislative Session, focusing on combating reckless driving and establishing a driver’s education grant program for economically disadvantaged students.

Similarly, Senator Knodl was recognized for his efforts, including the successful repeal of the personal property tax through Wisconsin Act 12, and his support for the same initiatives aimed at enhancing road safety and education.

The awards presentation was led by Pete Hanson, PIA’s executive director, who highlighted Representative Donovan’s leadership in creating safer road conditions and improving driver education. Ryan Butzke, PIA Past president, commended Senator Knodl for his dedication to supporting small businesses, including many PIA member agencies, through his legislative work.

PIA commended both legislators as having demonstrated a commitment to policies that not only support the insurance industry but also promote public safety and economic growth. Their legislative achievements, particularly in the realms of road safety and business support, were passed and signed into law within the 2023-24 session, marking significant progress for the state of Wisconsin.
