Out-Of-Control Honda Fit Smashes Into Massachusetts Building At Highway Speed
Here at Jalopnik, we’re no stranger to cars crashing into buildings. Just yesterday, we wrote about Alan Ruck of Ferris Bueller fame crashing his Rivian into a Hollywood pizza restaurant. Also, a quick search of our site shows this one, this one, this one, this one and this one. And that’s only scratching the surface of our cars crashing into buildings coverage. So when we say a crash is truly bizarre, we really mean it. And yes, this Massachusetts crash really is bizarre.

CBS News reports that an out-of-control Honda Fit smashed through the front of a Marlboro, Massachusetts office building yesterday not long before workers would have been leaving at the end of the day. It didn’t just hit the building, either. It appeared to be driving like it was still on a highway and hit the front of the building like a bullet. In fact, it was going so fast, it took out a concrete bollard that was presumably in place to prevent this sort of thing. If you’re going fast enough, apparently concrete bollards aren’t very effective.
Both the driver and the passenger were unconscious when emergency crews arrived, and the passenger was so thoroughly pinned under the dashboard that it reportedly took firefighters more than 30 minutes to get them out. In that time, both men regained consciousness. They were both taken to the hospital, but the passenger had to be transported by helicopter due to his injuries.
A receptionist was reportedly hit with flying glass but chose not to go to the hospital. We suspect she may have been worried about the cost of treatment, but we can’t say that definitively.
As for why the driver was going so fast and why he hit the office building, police have yet to figure that out, and the crash remains under investigation. We’re just thankful no one else was seriously hurt because a car going that fast is incredibly dangerous.
