Our Improved Trip Cancellation Plan is Now Available

One of our most popular plans—the Travel Insurance Select trip cancellation plan for single trips—has just gotten better! Designed to protect travelers and their trip investment before and during their trip, Travel Insurance Select has been relied upon by thousands of travelers for over a decade.

With new plan updates effective June 30, 2022, policy holders now have access to the following benefits:


The maximum trip cost on the Plus plan level increased from $100,000 to $125,000.
The maximum trip cost on the Elite plan level increased from $100,000 to $150,000.
The Plus & Elite plan levels now include a new per-trip Travel Inconvenience benefit – a reimbursement of $150 per incident up to the plan maximum. This new benefit can’t change the reality of your travel circumstances, but it may help alleviate some of the stress or disappointment resulting from unexpected trip changes and snags.

The Plus and Elite plan levels both include Travel Inconvenience for a Travel Delay of 3 hours or more. The Elite plan also includes Travel Inconvenience for Tarmac Delay (2 hours minimum) and Flight Cancellation.


Rental Property Damage Liability has been added as a benefit for the Plus & Elite plan levels. This benefit will be especially attractive to anyone who is renting a house, condo or other property during their vacation. Accidents happen! But having coverage up to $3,000 may give you some peace of mind while your dwelling in someone else’s property.
The Plus and Elite plan levels have new covered reasons for Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption.

New covered reasons for both the Plus and Elite plan levels:

A travel alert or travel warning for levels 4 and higher for cities listed on your itinerary or if your Destination officially prohibits incoming U.S. resident travel. For up-to-date information refer to the U.S. State Department website at: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/traveladvisories.html
Security Breach, Civil Disorder or Riot that prevents you from reaching your Destination or departing on your trip.


New covered reasons for only the Elite plan level:

You or Your Traveling Companion are attending the childbirth of your Family Member or surrogate mother.
Mandated shutdown by local government authorities of an airport or air traffic control system.
You are involuntarily terminated or laid off from your employment.
Your or your Traveling Companion’s previously granted military leave is revoked or reassigned for reasons other than for war.
Your or your Traveling Companion are required to work during your trip.
You or your Traveling Companion are required to work during Your Trip and directly involved in a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy proceedings or voluntary government-required product recall.
You or your Traveling Companion’s place of business is deemed to be unsuitable for business due to burglary, vandalism or a Natural Disaster and you or your Traveling Companion are directly involved as a member of the disaster recovery team.
Your Pet or Service Animal is sick, diagnosed with a terminal illness, injured or dies.

The Trip Interruption For Any Reason (IFAR) upgrade option will now only exclude residents of NY and WA state. In the previous plan version, IFAR was also excluded to residents of AK, CA, CO, IN, KS and NH. While we wish the benefit was available to everyone, we must comply with the state departments of insurance, and we are at least pleased that accessibility has been expanded to more states.
