Oh Good, There’s Another Retro Ford Bronco

Was the last retro-styled Ford Bronco appearance package not good enough for you? Does the very fact this truck’s styling is based on the Broc’ from the 1960s still not make your retro-loving heart want one? Well, Ford’s at it again with another throwback Bronco: the Bronco Free Wheeling Package. Fantastic.

OK, I’ll give Ford this – I like the color scheme. The red, orange and yellow stripes look pretty neat, and they’re apparently inspired by Ford’s Free Wheeling trucks, vans and Broncos from the 1970s and ’80s. I suppose that does differentiate this truck from the Heritage Edition Broncos which were modeled after earlier Broncos. Fair enough.

Ford says that from the late ’70s to the early ’80s, the Free Wheeling package was available on the F-100, F-150, Bronco and Econoline. It added the aforementioned stripes along with painted steel wheels and black finishes on the grilles, mirrors and bumpers. The colorful theme continues inside with splashes of red, orange and yellow all throughout the vehicles’ interiors.

The 2025 Free Wheeling is very similar in that way. The same three colors are present all over. I like it, to be honest.

Ford says the Bronco Free Wheeling is available as an optional appearance package on the Big Bend. It gets you the interior and exterior color scheme, a silver grille with the “BRONCO” name outlined in red with a white center and 17-inch gloss-black steel wheels (Sasquatch package-equipped Broncos get gloss-black wheels with a machined lip including red pockets.) On the inside, Free Wheeling Broncos will come with “unique” seats with a mix of Marine-Grade Vinyl and fabric upholstery.

If all that retro goodness wasn’t enough for you, you can also option a “premium Shadow Black painted roof” to go along with the standard soft top and available molded-in-color removable hardtop.

Can’t afford a Bronco Free Wheeling but want to cosplay as someone who can? Don’t worry, Ford has you covered with a full lineup of merch inspired by the package’s graphic. Ford is now Poreche, good job everybody. Anyway, if you can afford a Bronco Free Wheeling, it’ll be available starting in January of 2025. There’s no word on pricing, but it’s probably going to cost more than a t-shirt.

Listen, I don’t know if any of this is really necessary, but I guess Ford sees a market for people who want even more retro shit on their already-retro truck. It ain’t for me, as I am a man who looks toward the future, but go with God, I s’pose. Well, OK, I’ll change my tune if they release a ’90s OJ Edition Bronco. Until then, I sleep.
