Oceanview Reinsurance Ltd., a subsidiary of Oceanview Holdings Ltd., has appointed Michael C. Ward as its new vice president and chief financial officer (CFO), the company announced on Tuesday.

Ward brings a wealth of experience in financial leadership, with over 16 years of experience in the reinsurance sector. In his new role, Ward will be responsible for overseeing the company’s finance and reporting functions and support Oceanview Reinsurance’s strategic goals and ensure its commitment to financial excellence.

The announcement comes as Oceanview Reinsurance expands its global operations, including a recent launch in the Cayman Islands. Ward’s expertise in regulatory reporting, capital management, and financial leadership will be essential in navigating this growth phase, the company said.

“Michael’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for Oceanview Reinsurance,” said Andrew Kanelos, executive chairman and chief governance officer of Oceanview Reinsurance Ltd. “His expertise in regulatory reporting and capital management will be instrumental as we navigate the evolving regulatory landscape and optimize our capital structure.”

CEO William Egan echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the importance of Ward’s experience in driving the company’s international strategy. “His proven ability to implement efficient financial processes and provide strategic insights will support our mission to deliver innovative reinsurance solutions to clients worldwide,” he said.

Before joining Oceanview, Ward held senior financial roles at Argus Group, including financial controller, head of regulatory reporting, and treasury operations. He also served as manager at Kane (Bermuda) Limited. Ward holds a BA (Honors) in Accounting and Finance from John Moores University in Liverpool, UK, and is a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
