The annual nib Little Legends $10K Relay, now in its fourth year, continues its mission in partnership with the Blues to foster early health consciousness among New Zealand youth.

This event will gather teams from 10 junior rugby clubs and intermediate schools across Auckland, North Harbour, and Northland to compete in a relay race during the Blues vs Hurricanes game’s halftime at Eden Park on May 11.

Teams can register from April 12 until April 29, with the aim of winning a $10,000 prize that will benefit the health and wellbeing of their young players. The relay will feature teams of 10 runners each, with participants aged between 11 and 13 years.

“We are proud to be bringing back the Little Legends $10K Relay. It’s a great way for parents to encourage their kids to be fit and active, while the kids have a once in a lifetime opportunity of competing at the iconic Eden Park,” said nib chief executive Rob Hennin.

The study showed that many parents do not prioritise annual health checks for their children, resulting in outdated or missed assessments in areas such as hearing, vision, dental care, and vaccinations.

To address these findings, nib will offer free general health screenings through its mobile Check-Up Clinic in central Auckland the week before the game. This effort is part of nib’s broader strategy to provide families with the tools and information necessary for effective health management.

Interested teams must submit a brief description of how they would use the prize to foster health and wellbeing in their members. Finalists will be announced on May 1, and each must field 10 runners between the ages of 11 and 13.

For more information on how to register and the complete terms and conditions, visit the Blues official rugby website. Registration is open until 5:00 pm (NZST) on April 29.
