nib New Zealand (nib), a private health insurer, has announced the appointment of Alvin Soh (pictured above) as its new chief financial officer.

Soh’s appointment followed the departure of Nick Cory, nib’s former CFO, who was with the firm for 10 years. Prior to Soh taking up the role, Gina Esdaile, nib’s senior manager financial reporting, served as acting CFO.

“It’s no easy feat to replace our previous CFO Nick Cory after 10 very successful years with the company including acquisitions, new partnerships and significant growth, but the company has been in good hands with Gina while we waited for Alvin to join the team,” said Rob Hennin, nib’s chief executive officer.

Who is Alvin Soh?

Soh has over 20 years of experience in leadership roles. Prior to joining nib, Soh served as the CFO of Shuttlerock Ltd., a content platform for websites. He had also previously held CFO roles at Online Republic Group Ltd and Flight Centre (NZ) Ltd.

According to his LinkedIn, he received his bachelor of commerce degree from The University of Auckland.

“Alvin is an accomplished CFO with a wealth of knowledge in financial management and excellent leadership experience. We have delivered solid results for FY23 and look forward to continued growth under Alvin’s guidance and leadership,” said Hennin.

“nib has had strong financial growth while continuing to deliver value to its members and I’m excited to be part of that journey going forward,” said Soh. “It’s exciting to join a new industry and I look forward to the opportunities ahead.”
