Navacord has announced its enhanced commitment to the Ottawa region with the expansion of two specialty brokers: Petrela, Winter & Associates, experts in construction, and Jones DesLauriers, noted for their work in commercial, auto dealerships, and technology sectors.

Petrela Winter, a Navacord broker partner since 2015, opened a new office in Ottawa in late May. Since its founding in 1979, Petrela Winter has established a strong presence in the construction and real estate development industries, providing specialized insurance and bonding solutions to contractors and developers nationwide.

The new office, located at 1545 Carling Avenue, is now operational under the leadership of Alexander Petrela, supported by a team of experienced risk advisors. Petrela Winter also operates offices in Toronto, London, and Sudbury.

“Ottawa is near and dear to us as some of our oldest client relationships that date back to the earliest days of our firm are based there,” Petrela Winter president and chief executive Roy Ferreira highlighted. “We’re immensely proud to be a part of the local community, and excited to build on our success there, working with the region’s construction and development community.”

Additionally, Jones DesLauriers, one of Navacord’s largest broker partners, has expanded its footprint in Ottawa by integrating Binks Insurance and Risk Balance Insurance into its brand from the start of this month. Both companies have been collaborating with Jones DesLauriers since joining Navacord, and their combined expertise enhances Jones DesLauriers’ capabilities.

Founded in 1918, Binks Insurance has a long-standing presence in Ottawa and specializes in automotive dealerships, non-profit organizations, and high-risk commercial placements. Risk Balance Insurance, established in 2016, has built a reputation for excellence in technology, life sciences, and non-profit sectors.
