Nautilus Marine Insurance, a key provider of insurance for recreational vessels and marine business assets in Australia and New Zealand, will extend its sponsorship of Hamilton Island Race Week.

The event marks the third consecutive year of Nautilus Marine Insurance’s partnership with the regatta, which is set to occur from August 17 to 14.

Lyndon Turner, CEO of Nautilus Marine Insurance, shared his enthusiasm for the event.

“Hamilton Island Race Week is Australia’s most prestigious keelboat regatta and the perfect opportunity to show Nautilus Marine Insurance’s support for the sailing community,” he said. “The team at Nautilus Marine Insurance and the organisers of Hamilton Island Race Week share the same passion for sailing and enjoy seeing everyone participate in this magnificent sport. Nautilus Marine Insurance is very proud of being able to support Hamilton Island Race Week, and to also support boat owners all over Australia with quality coverage and security.”

Denis Thompson, who has served as regatta director for over 15 years, commented: “To see maxis powering down Dent passage while the skippers throw them around like dinghies is definitely a highlight. The huge fleets of racers thrashing around the courses in 20 knots is also a sight to behold.”

The Hamilton Island Class is expected to have one of the largest fleets, with 80 out of over 170 entries competing in four divisions. Participants in this class are recognised for their competitive nature and enjoyment of the shore activities.

Hamilton Island Race Week is a major event on the international sailing calendar. Each August, sailors and spectators from around the globe gather at Hamilton Island in the Great Barrier Reef for Australia’s largest offshore keelboat regatta.

Since its inception in 2006, this regatta has grown into one of Australia’s largest competitive keelboat events, featuring around 190 keelboats competing across 19 divisions within Sydney Harbour and beyond Sydney Heads.

The event, held in March, is known for fostering camaraderie, both during the races and in the organising efforts, with major clubs assisting Middle Harbour Yacht Club.
