Firm looking to meet growing demand in the cyber insurance space

Mosaic Insurance has announced the appointment of David Drogin (pictured above) as senior vice president and head of US cyber. The appointment comes as part of the company’s global expansion strategy to meet the increasing demand in the cybersecurity sector.

In his new role, Drogin will be based in Mosaic’s New York office and will report to Yosha DeLong, global head of cyber. His responsibilities will include overseeing the operational and growth strategies for Mosaic’s US cyber portfolio.

The appointment marks the latest addition to Mosaic’s cyber team, which currently consists of 23 underwriters located in New York, Chicago, London, Toronto, Germany, Dubai, and Bermuda.

“We’re thrilled to welcome David to Mosaic as we ramp up our US cyber platform and position to become a dynamic leader in this challenging space,” DeLong said. “Our continued expansion is aligned with Mosaic’s dedication to the cyber insurance class, and our commitment to providing risk-transfer solutions to policyholders, backed by a best-in-class team.”

Mosaic Insurance introduced its primary cyber product in May, offering a capacity of $25 million across its underwriting hubs. The coverage builds upon the company’s successful excess cyber offerings and utilizes syndicated capital from Mosaic’s Syndicate 1609 and its trade partners.

Drogin has more than 18 years of experience in the cyber insurance industry, with expertise in claims, product development, and underwriting. Prior to joining Mosaic Insurance, he served as the US Northeast regional manager at Axis Capital and held various roles at ACE USA. He also worked as an insurance coverage lawyer at Wilson Elser.

“At a time when even the most thoroughly prepared companies are unable to eradicate the risk of cyberattacks, the significance of cyber insurance should not be understated,” Drogin said. “I am delighted to join Mosaic’s talented team, and I look forward to helping empower our clients to fortify their cyber resilience in this rapidly developing sector.”

Mosaic Insurance has recently made several other additions to its cybersecurity division. These include Toni Gehring as assistant vice president and underwriter in Germany, Kyle Gray as vice president and underwriter in Toronto, Tayler Salvatore and Kimiya Malek in New York, and junior underwriters Ted Duberley and Florence Colangelo in London.

“We focus on protecting diverse industry types for stand-alone coverage, from financial services to manufacturing,” DeLong said. “Our aim has always been to support clients’ ability to not only prevent an attack, but also minimize business interruption, financial loss, and other damages in any aftermath. The global need is growing greater—and we intend to meet it.”
