New partners have extensive insurance experience

Moray & Agnew, a national law firm with more than 700 people, including 105 partners, has announced 14 senior promotions, effective July 1, 2023.

Seven senior lawyers will join the partnership. Meanwhile, four were appointed as special counsel, and three as senior associate.

New partners

Sydney

Julian Kenda is an experienced litigator and negotiator with a wealth of experience in handling disputes arising from compulsory third-party (CTP) claims. He is an Accredited Specialist in Personal Injury Law.

Stephanie Lee acts for and advises insurers in liability and professional indemnity claims, including property damage and building defects claims.

Melbourne

Daniel Coloe has extensive experience in acting in personal injury, property, and marine insurance claims. He also regularly acts on behalf of insurers and private entities in complex and technical recovery proceedings, mainly in the marine insurance and telecommunications spheres.

Perth

Tracy Bennett acts for government and commercial insurers, practising extensively in the areas of general liability, (medical) treatment liability, workers compensation, and property damage.

Newcastle

Sarah Hammond is an experienced commercial litigation and building & construction lawyer with a notable track record on major disputes in all courts including the High Court, Court of Appeal, and Supreme Court.

Helene Tretheway focuses on insurance law, mainly in the areas of public liability, personal injury, compulsory third-party matters, and “residual jurisdiction” workers compensation claims.

Joan Williams mainly practices in indemnity disputes, public liability, professional indemnity, and product liability for clients such as Australia’s largest insurers and local councils. She also handles product liability claims for international insurers.

Other appointments

Promoted to special counsel are:


Kelly Poh, Sydney;
Daniel Le Huray, Melbourne;
Donna Marsh, Perth; and
Lucy Munro, Newcastle.

Meanwhile, Karina Ross (Melbourne), Timothy Skinner (Sydney), and Lilian Zhou (Brisbane) will become senior associates.

Commenting on the appointment spree, Moray & Agnew national managing partner Geoff Connellan said: “Congratulations to each of these lawyers on their well-deserved promotions. We acknowledge and thank them for their hard work for our clients and their ongoing contribution to our firm.”

Earlier this year, Moray & Agnew made 13 promotions, composed of partners, special counsels, and senior associates.
