MECON Insurance, construction insurance specialist and part of the UAA Group consortium, has announced the appointment of Kishan Dasan as its general manager, effective March 18.

With a background spanning over a decade in leadership and industry-specific roles, Dasan’s career includes positions at both Willis Towers Watson Australia and AIG.

At Willis Towers Watson, Dasan held the position of director of strategic growth for construction and natural resources from December 2021, taking charge of the strategic initiatives in Melbourne, Victoria. Prior to that, his 13-year stint at AIG included roles as head of construction for Asia Pacific and construction practice leader for Australasia, where he played a key role in managing construction and energy risks.

“Kishan’s knowledge and leadership skills will strengthen our management team and assist in our focus of providing market-leading service, profitable products, and innovative insurance solutions,” said Glenn Ross, CEO of MECON.

“Kishan’s extensive experience in the construction insurance market across the Asia-Pacific region, coupled with his strong background in construction underwriting, makes him an invaluable addition to our MECON team,” said UAA group CEO Stan Alexandropoulos.

Dasan mentioned his prior interactions with MECON during his time at AIG.

“I feel like MECON is a company which I have been a part of for a while now, having had involvement with them while at AIG. MECON’s strong offering and capabilities in the SME construction sector, and the people at both MECON and UAA, excited me the most about this role. I am looking forward to sharing my experience and learnings in the underwriting and broking sectors with the group,” he said.
