Marsh McLennan Agency expands in Indiana with key acquisition
It is the latest in a series of transactions to bolster its foothold in the market

Marsh McLennan Agency (MMA) has completed its acquisition of The Horton Group, Inc.
The Horton Group, based in Orland Park, Ill., is an insurance broker offering property and casualty (P&C) insurance, employee benefits consultation, and personal lines coverage.
With this acquisition, Marsh McLennan Agency expands its presence in Indiana and bolsters its existing operations in Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Florida.
As part of the deal, employees from The Horton Group will transition to Marsh McLennan Agency and will continue to operate from their current nine locations.
Founded in 1971, The Horton Group has established itself as one of the largest insurance brokers in the country, providing comprehensive insurance solutions to businesses and individuals.
MMA’s acquisition of The Horton Group is just the latest in a series of expansions for the Marsh-owned business.
Other recent acquisitions for MMA
Last month, the firm also announced its acquisition of AmeriStar Agency, Inc, an independent agency based in Wayzata, Minn.
Founded in 1987, AmeriStar offers a range of insurance coverage solutions to high-net-worth individuals and commercial clients. All AmeriStar employees, including president Matt Schadow, joined Marsh McLennan Agency and continues to operate out of their current Wayzata office.
“Joining Marsh McLennan Agency is a significant milestone for our team, empowering us to enhance our service offerings and tap into their expertise and resources,” Schadow said. “We are eager to begin delivering clients elevated solutions to their unique exposures in today’s dynamic market.”
In June, MMA also swooped for Perkins Insurance Agencies, an independent agency based in Abilene, Texas.
Founded in 1977, Perkins Insurance provides commercial property and casualty and personal lines coverage to businesses, non-profits, and families in West Texas. The agency has expertise in the oil and gas, trucking, farm and ranch, and restaurant industries.
