Markel Canada Limited Appoints Vice President and Product Line Leader of Environmental
TORONTO, ON, JULY 31, 2024/insPRESS/ – Markel Canada Limited, a leading underwriter of casualty, professional, environmental and specialty insurance announces the appointment of Sarah Martin as Vice President and Product Line Leader of Environmental effective August 19, 2024.
Sarah joined Markel’s US operation in 2019 and is transitioning from her position managing the western US Environmental retail team to join Canada’s Underwriting, Strategy and Performance team as Vice President and Product Line Leader, Environmental. In her new role, Sarah will be responsible for leading the environmental product line in Canada to deliver the established profit targets and plans for sustainable growth and expansion. Our Underwriting, Strategy and Performance team is responsible for underwriting frameworks that facilitate ongoing portfolio management and steer underwriting direction. Our Product Line Leaders work in step with the field underwriting team to ensure alignment in how our products are being brought to market.
Sarah is a valuable member of Markel’s Environmental operation, her leadership capabilities were apparent as she swiftly transitioned from managing the Midwest Environmental division to overseeing the entire Western retail Environmental operation in the US. Sarah joined Markel Canada on secondment earlier this year to develop a new Canadian product based on current successful US product; her integration with the team and can-do attitude were apparent and helped facilitate this permanent transition. Prior to her time with Markel, Sarah worked with reputable insurers including Starr Companies and AIG working closely on US and Canadian business. Sarah holds an MBA from DePaul University.
