Daniel P. Olohan (pictured) has been appointed as MAPFRE USA chief operating officer effective on August 1. The next COO joined MAPFRE USA in 2006 and has held the position of general counsel and secretary since 2008.

As part of his promotion, Olohan will also become a member of the board of directors of MAPFRE USA. He is succeeding current COO Jose Manuel Corral, who will become chief executive of MAPFRE Vida (MAPFRE Life) and general manager of the bancassurance channel of MAPFRE España.

MAPFRE USA president and CEO Jaime Tamayo noted: “Dan brings strong leadership and a deep understanding of MAPFRE USA’s business and the industry to this position.

“Having overseen our legal and regulatory affairs for many years, he is uniquely qualified and well-positioned to drive our operational strategy forward and ensure continued efficiency and excellence across the organization.”

Meanwhile, commenting on Corral’s transition, Tamayo added: “Jose Manuel has been instrumental in steering our operations through one of the most complex times in the history of the personal lines insurance market in the United States.

“He has shown strong commitment to MAPFRE in the US and has been a valued contributor to the organization in the last few years. We wish him the best in his new position.”

Corral, whose new role is also taking effect on August 1, has been with MAPFRE for more than three decades. He took on the USA COO post in 2021.
