L’Unique General Insurance has become the first insurer to receive Commercial Lines (CL) Data Standards Certification for the real estate segment from the Centre for Study of Insurance Operations (CSIO).

Guy Lecours (pictured), chief operating officer of L’Unique and Unica Insurance, noted: “L’Unique is proud to be at the forefront of optimizing commercial quoting for real estate risks. We are dedicated to empowering our broker partners to offer their clients exceptional service.

“This commitment drives our ongoing investment in technology, enabling innovative solutions that enhance operational efficiency across our brokerage network.”

By implementing real-time quoting, L’Unique enables commercial policy data to seamlessly flow onto broker management systems (BMS). This allows the delivery of quotes within seconds instead of days.

L’Unique’s integration of CSIO’s CL Data Standards for real estate risks eliminates manual data entry and multiple platform log-ins while reducing reliance on email or phone requests for quotes.

Catherine Smola, president and chief executive of CSIO, praised L’Unique for its leadership in adopting CL Data Standards.

“I am delighted to recognize L’Unique as our first certified insurer for real estate risks,” Smola said. “By implementing CL Data Standards, L’Unique demonstrates their commitment to real-time quoting, empowering brokers to seize business opportunities more effectively.”

Insurers and BMS vendors interested in achieving certification can access the CL Data Standards business requirements and certification document for detailed programming guidelines.

CSIO also provides a CL Validator tool to ensure XML files comply with the standards during implementation. Brokers can visit CSIO’s website to explore the codes covered under CL Data Standards.
