Lockton Re, the reinsurance arm of the independent broking group, has announced the hiring of former Nephila Capital executive Chris Parish who will join the company as its new Market Innovation Leader.

Recognising the important role of the capital markets in global reinsurance market development and innovation, Lockton Re has created this new role to tie together technology and capital advancement for itself and clients.

Parish will be based in London for the brokerage, but his role as Market Innovation Leader will have a global remit and he will report to Claude Yoder, Global Head of Analytics at Lockton Re.

“I am delighted to welcome Chris to the team in this new and exciting role. To ensure our clients and partners benefit from the external technological changes that are occurring, the reinsurance industry needs to consolidate its data flows and share data through digital connectivity,” commented Claude Yoder. “Our lack of legacy systems and the flexibility of Lockton Re’s SAGE, our proprietary analytics tool, mean we are in a great position to successfully embrace this change. Chris’ expertise and experience will help ensure that Lockton Re plays a key role in this technology advancement”.

Parish has over 25 years of experience in insurance and reinsurance markets, with his most recent position being at leading insurance-linked securities (ILS) investment manager Nephila Capital.

At Nephila, Parish was a Partner and also the firms Portfolio Management & Funds Team Leader in Bermuda. He also worked as a Senior Business Advisor at Nephila in London. Parish spent almost 11 years working for the ILS fund manager.

Lockton Re said that Parish’s career focus on clients, technology, securitization, and fund management “gives him a great understanding of recent developments in the reinsurance market and insight into the potential for innovation and technology going forward.”

Tim Gardner, Global CEO, Lockton Re added, “Lockton Re is in a very strong position with our technology investments and our forward-thinking analytics teams to bring faster and deeper connectivity to clients, reinsurance partners and our colleagues. I look forward to working with Chris, Claude, and the wider team to support their efforts to modernize the markets we trade in.”
