Here at Tattoo Insure, we understand the importance of
supporting our customers by providing the ability to Increase the cover on
Insurance Policy’s to include Laser treatments. This will ensure that you can
offer these treatments with the peace of mind that you have the correct
Insurance in place.

Current reports share that up to 25% of people whom have had a Tattoo will go on to regret this choice.  It could well be that they want a completely fresh start or to simply lighten a previous Tattoo to make way for a fresh, new piece of artwork.

Alongside the removal of Tattoos, Lasers are useful for removing unwanted hair from the face, leg, bikini line, arm, and underarm. The beauty industry is booming and showing no signs of slowing down and now includes Laser resurfacing which is a treatment that can in some cases ease or remove facial wrinkles and skin irregularities, such as blemishes or scars.

When it
comes to providing any kind of treatment with a laser, it’s vital that you note
the following:

*You must have a valid Core Of knowledge Training
Certificate before we can provide Insurance.

*Your Insurance cover should be extended to include all the
laser treatments as agreed with one of our team. Once agreed, documentation
will be provided to confirm this cover is operative.

*Treatment Risk is an extension of cover that should be
included on your policy, an excess of £1,250.00 will apply to any laser tattoo
removal claim.

Good
Practice with a laser is something that should be taken seriously:

This part is absolutely crucial and must be taken into
account before offering any kind of laser treatment as part of your
business.

Points to consider are:

*Are treatments
offered in a Safe Environment?

*Is the equipment
fully functional, serviced and safe to use?

*Are all operators
of the laser suitably trained and do they hold “Core Of Knowledge”
qualifications?

*Has the local
Authority approved your place of business?

*We recommend a
break of 6 weeks between Laser removal treatments to allow the skin to recover
and avoid any potential complications or scarring.

*If you suggest a
number of treatments are required and it looks like more will be needed,
explain this to your customer.  Do not
increase the laser setting in an attempt to keep within the number of
treatments suggested, this will most likely cause burns and your reputation
will suffer

The British Medical Laser Association provide more detailed
information on the topic of regulation when operating a laser which can be read
here – http://www.bmla.co.uk/regulation/

The British Medical Laser Association suggest that it is
good practice for individuals to reattend Core of Knowledge courses every 5
years. This will provide additional knowledge for practitioners if there has
been significant changes to equipment or practices during the previous 5
years.

When considering a training course, it’s important that the course has been approved by a recognised body such as the British Medical Laser Association.  Please do not forget that if you are an employer, it is your responsibility to ensure that adequate measures, including training, are in place to ensure the safe use of lasers and IPL devices.
