KRGinsure (formally RRJ Insurance Group) has acquired Ajax, Ontario-based Jones-Dooley Insurance Brokers.
Marsha Jones-Dooley, whose business has been trading since 1985, recognized the need for advanced software, technical expertise, cyber protection, and compliance with evolving regulations, prompting her to consider merging with a larger firm. The goal was to ensure greater stability, broader market access and enhanced professional support for clients.
Joining Marsha in the transition is Peter Dooley, who began his career in insurance part-time in 2004, before committing full-time in 2008 after earning a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Trent University. He earned his Chartered Insurance Professional designation in 2017 and is eager to embrace new opportunities at KRGinsure.
Also part of the team is James P. Dooley, who obtained his Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario license in 2006 while pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Justice Studies. James transitioned from a career in law, where he represented commercial drivers and operators, to rejoin the insurance sector. He is close to completing his CIP designation and offers additional services as a commissioner of oaths.
Marsha, meanwhile, is bringing her wealth of experience and leadership to KRGinsure. Her contributions to the industry over four decades have been recognized multiple times, including the Elite Broker status and the ‘Woman of Influence’ award.
The firm’s new owner, headquartered in Southern Ontario, has delivered customized insurance solutions to Canadians nationwide for more than 35 years.
Originally a collection of different brokerage brands across Ontario, KRGinsure came together as a single brand in 2020. The move was spearheaded by Abraham Baboujian (pictured) and Jennifer James, co-chief executives of the holding company RRJ Insurance Group.
“KRG was one of the acquisitions that we made back in 2009, and we decided to maintain that name because it was a well-known commercial brokerage throughout Canada, and it resonated with the region we operated in,” Baboujian said in a previous interview with Insurance Business.
“In our roster, we have companies that date back to 1906 – so there’s a lot of history there throughout Southern Ontario. That’s a past that we cherish and celebrate, and we don’t let people forget that we have deep roots in the communities that we serve.”
