A Sag Harbor police officer arrested “Trolls Band Together” star Justin Timberlake back in June for driving while intoxicated. That, of course, led to the most important story of the year — a bunch of rich New Yorkers complaining about the arresting officer because he dared to give them tickets for breaking the law, too. Timberlake didn’t appear to take the arrest very seriously, either, even joking about it at his next show. The judge overseeing his case, however, does appear to be taking things seriously, with NBC News reporting he suspended Timberlake’s license in his latest hearing.

Timberlake previously pleaded not guilty and has insisted that he only had “one martini” before following a friend home. He also refused a breathalyzer test but failed the field sobriety test, with the arresting officer writing in his report that he had “ascertained that the defendant was operating said vehicle in an intoxicated condition in that his eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot, and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests.”

Because Timberlake refused the breathalyzer, the judge suspended his license. In New York, refusing a breathalyzer comes with an automatic license suspension even if you are later found not guilty. It is currently unclear how long Timberlake will be unable to drive, but he’s got Inside Llewyn Davis. He can afford a few Uber Blacks. Also, if he’d just done that back in June, he wouldn’t have found himself in this situation in the first place.

Judge Carl Irace also had some harsh words for Timberlake’s attorney who had previously made comments that Irace deemed “irresponsible” and “comes off as an attempt to poison the case before it even begins.” The judge threatened to issue a gag order if he continued.

Timberlake’s next hearing is currently set for September 13, although it isn’t clear whether or not he will be required to appear.
