Intact Public Entities (IPE) has announced the retirement of its president and principal broker Larry Ryan, effective December 31, 2023.

Ryan has been a leader at the MGA since 2011 and was there to guide the business through numerous transformations, including its acquisition by Intact Financial Corporation in 2019.

His other notable achievements include propelling IPE’s resiliency by cultivating expertise in the specialty business segments that it serves. He also fostered a dynamic leadership group, as well as nurtured strong relationships with insuring partners.

“It’s been an absolute pleasure working with the IPE team, brokers and clients for the past twelve years,” said Ryan. “IPE has been serving clients and brokers for 95 years, more than ever we are well positioned to continue our commitment to you in years to come.”

Ryan came to IPE after a 25-year tenure as CFO of a large Ontario municipality. With his retirement, current head of operations Glenn Minnis is set to take over as president in 2024.

Minnis has nearly two decades of specialized experience in the property and casualty insurance market. He joined IPE in 2021 and has collaborated closely with Ryan during the past two years. His background includes time spent at another MGA.

“I wish Larry all the best in this next chapter and I look forward to continuing the great work he has injected these past twelve years,” he said. “I believe IPE has a winning business model, excellent people, and is well positioned to help our clients and society be resilient and prosper.”
