Ian Smith named BIBA Journalist of the Year 2022
30th June 2022
The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) has named Ian Smith of the Financial Times as the 2022 BIBA Journalist of the Year at its annual Journalist & Media Awards.
Steve White, BIBA CEO presented Ian Smith with the Journalist of the Year trophy in the 40th year of the association’s prestigious awards that recognise the work the media does to increase the understanding of insurance and insurance broking.
Congratulating Ian, White said; “Relatively new to writing on our sector’s issues Ian has proved his ability to absorb and understand complex issues. He writes pieces in a way that is both fair and insightful and always highlights key insurance points. We are always impressed with the way he appears to take on board all sides of an issue, asking questions and checking facts and undoubtedly bringing insurance matters to the fore in a highly respected publication. He is a worthy winner.”
He continued: “As usual I’m delighted to say that the standard of entries has set the bar high, proving the breadth, depth, enthusiam and sheer excellence of insurance journalism we enjoy in our sector. I would like to congratulate every single finalist and winner today.”
