IAG New Zealand (IAG NZ) has entered into a multi-year agreement with Google Cloud to enhance its digital capabilities and streamline customer experiences.
This new collaboration builds on an existing relationship and will focus on leveraging Google Cloud’s data and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to improve IAG NZ’s operations.
“We are delighted to partner with Google Cloud, and excited by the opportunities the technology offers us,” said Simon Pomeroy, executive general manager of transformation, IAG NZ. “At its core, this partnership is about enhancing our team’s capability and helping us continue to be here for New Zealanders when they need us.”
How IAG NZ’s partnership with Google Cloud benefits customers
Pomeroy said the partnership would enable claims and sales teams to automate routine tasks and expedite processes, ultimately benefiting customers. Employees will be equipped with advanced tools to help them continue delivering quality customer service.
“For customers, we will be able to make insurance easier to understand and purchase through traditional and new, digital channels. By creating a streamlined, faster service, right across our business, New Zealanders will be able to access and manage their insurance, wherever and whenever they need us,” Pomeroy said.
“Data and AI are not just tools; they’re the catalysts that can reshape the future of insurance,” said Helen Stewart, director-financial services at Google Cloud Australia & New Zealand. “We are thrilled to announce our partnership with IAG New Zealand, bringing together innovation and expertise to help elevate the customer experience and drive operational excellence. Together, we’re not just supporting the future of insurance; we’re helping create it.”
IAG NZ will start platform training for its teams in August, with new applications expected to be introduced in the following months.
IAG NZ reaffirms commitment to renewable energy
In a separate initiative, IAG NZ’s operations have secured a deal with Ecotricity – the country’s first Toitū climate-positive certified electricity provider – to source all electricity from renewable sources.
“We’re delighted to have formed renewable energy partnerships across Australia and New Zealand, marking a tangible step in our journey towards net zero. We recognise that how we address sustainability is critically important to our long-term business performance, and our ability to influence and support Australia and New Zealand’s transition towards a low-carbon climate-resilient economy,” said Lee McDougall, head of sustainability at IAG.
