HUB International has appointed Courtney Davis Curtis (pictured) as its new global education specialty practice leader.

Davis Curtis will direct the growth of HUB’s education specialty practice, focusing on innovative solutions tailored to the sector’s unique challenges.

Joining from the University of Chicago, where she handled a broad spectrum of risk management duties, Davis Curtis brings to the role dual expertise in insurance brokerage and higher education administration.

“Courtney brings a blend of hands-on educational institution experience and deep insurance knowledge that is vital for leading our strategic initiatives within the educational sector,” said Marc Cohen, president and CEO of HUB.

At the University of Chicago, Davis Curtis was pivotal in implementing several key projects: she developed mandatory youth protection training for employees, pioneered a new captive insurance company to isolate various risks, and rolled out an enterprise-wide risk management strategy. Her leadership extended through the university’s COVID-19 response.

Expressing excitement about her new role, Davis Curtis emphasized the importance of a comprehensive approach to managing risks related to talent, reputation, and operational challenges in educational environments.

“My aim is to fortify our clients’ capabilities in tackling emerging risks while enhancing their overall safety and operational efficiency,” she said.

Davis Curtis has held leadership roles in key industry bodies, such as the University Risk Management and Insurance Association (URMIA). She serves on several advisory boards including the Higher Education Client Advisory Board and the board of directors for two captive insurance companies.

HUB’s Education Specialty Practice consists of specialists from across North America. The team offers bespoke insurance solutions that address the complex challenges educational institutions face and mitigate risks associated with property and casualty, cyber threats, and campus security.
