Global insurance brokerage and financial services company Hub International Limited has snapped up The Essex Agency (formally known as Essex Agency, Inc.) for an undisclosed sum.
Based in Essex Junction, Vermont, The Essex Agency is an independent insurance agency with a focus on both personal and commercial insurance, particularly within the construction and real estate sectors. This specialization aligns with Hub’s specialty practices, enhancing and broadening its current capabilities, it said.
The Essex Agency president David Holton (pictured), vice president John Handy, and their team will be integrated into Hub’s New England operations.
“We look forward to elevating the services we provide to our clients and supporting deep regional and national resource support to the clients of The Essex Agency – a true win-win for both firms’ employees and clients.”
Holton, whose camp was represented by Dowling Hales for the transaction, had this to say: “We are excited to start our journey with Hub. Hub’s reputation in the industry and the depth and breadth of expertise and resources provide an unparalleled foundation for delivering exceptional service to our clients.
“We look forward to contributing to our continued success and growth with Hub.”
Under the deal, The Essex Agency will now operate as The Essex Agency, a Hub International company. The Vermont-based business joins recent Hub acquisitions True North Group Insurance Services, Cargill Insurance, and Merriwether & Williams.
Specializing in risk management, insurance, employee benefits, retirement, and wealth management products and services, Hub is headquartered in Illinois and employs more than 17,000 people across North America.
