The Hollard Insurance Company has been named the best workplace for fathers at the 2023 Australian Father of the Year Awards.

Established in 1957, the Australian Father of the Year Awards had been hosted by The Shepherd Centre in partnership with the Australian Father’s Day Council for 25 years. In 2022, The Fathering Project became the awards’ new home and has continued to work with the Australian Father’s Day Council to further develop awards.

The awards celebrate and acknowledge the vital role that fathers play within their families and communities. As part of the awards, The Fathering Project and the Australian Father’s Day Council select one outstanding workplace and three outstanding fathers who have demonstrated support, guidance, and love to their child or children through the working role or family life.

Best workplace for fathers

Hollard was announced as the best workplace for fathers at The Maritime Museum in Sydney on Aug. 31.

Hollard CEO Paul Fahey accepted the award and acknowledged the impact of the company’s parental leave and flexible working policies on fathers and their families.

“It’s gratifying to be recognised for the changes we are seeking to make through our policies at Hollard to support fathers, families, and children,” Fahey said. “This award is fantastic recognition of our ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion at Hollard.”

Supporting families

Hollard is committed to foster a culture that supports families and promotes equal parenting opportunities.

In 2018, Hollard updated its parental leave policy, extending Superannuation contributions to individuals while on parental leave. It also extended the parental leave period to three years and expanded this to various parenting situations, including adoption or kindship arrangements.

The company’s flexible and hybrid working policies enabled fathers to be present for milestones, school events, and everyday moments without compromising their professional growth.
