Independent insurance brokerage Higginbotham has added another partner agency to its roster, swooping for Bourg Insurance in South Louisiana.

Bourg Insurance is a family-run business based in Donaldsonville, Louisiana. It was established by Claude ‘Toby’ Bourg, Jr. in 1958 and is currently being led by his son Brad Bourg as president.

The agency’s leadership team also includes Brad’s brother Brennan, who serves as vice president, and brother-in-law Chuck Leblanc, who works as vice president in addition to running the commercial lines department and managing the Donaldsonville office.

“We’ve been a small business for years,” Brad Bourg said in a news release. “With Higginbotham, we’ll have technology and support to move that forward, providing the same services but on a larger scale.”

“Access to markets, scalability, professionalism — and of course, a great brand,” Brennan Bourg added. “Higginbotham brings so much to the table, and we’re thrilled to be adding their name alongside ours.”

Commenting on the deal, Higginbotham chairman and CEO Rusty Reid emphasized the significance of family and community in the firm’s decision-making process.

“At Higginbotham, we place tremendous importance on family — which is how we view our team — and on service to our community,” said Reid. “If you’re looking around for a similar family- and community-oriented business partner, you have to be looking at the Bourg family in South Louisiana.”
