HDI Global bundles global Claims Management in the Executive Board

Dr Barbara Klimaszewski-Blettner will take over responsibility for global Claims Management and Germany

Dr Dirk Höring succeeds Claire McDonald as Board Member with the responsibility for Property, Engineering and Marine Cargo insurance as well as HDI Risk Consulting

Dr Barbara Klimaszewski-Blettner and Dr Dirk Höring will join the Board of Management of HDI Global SE with effect from 1st of April 2024. Klimaszewski-Blettner will take over responsibility for the business in Germany as well as global Claims Management, Höring will be in charge as Chief Underwriting Officer for the Property, Engineering and Marine portfolios and HDI Risk Consulting.

Klimaszewski-Blettner is currently responsible for the German business as Managing Director. By optimising structures and processes, she has increased customer focus in Germany and is a driver of cultural transformation based on the HDI Global values “Together, Ownership and Performance”. Prior to this, she held various management positions at Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty and Allianz Group. The aim of bundling the global Claims Management at Management Board level is to increase the customer focus of the division, including the associated claims services, and to optimise processes worldwide. HDI Global provided more than EUR 6 billion in claims payments to customers last year.

Dirk Höring is a successful and highly experienced insurance executive and currently the Head of International Programmes with a total of around 5,000 international programmes. Previously, he was responsible as divisional head for pricing, analytics and global portfolio steering. He is also a member of the Executive Board of HDI Global Network AG, a globally operating reinsurer within HDI Global SE, where he is responsible for finance, re-insurance accounting, asset & liquidity management and risk management. Beside that he was a non-executive Board Director of HDI Global Insurance Company in the US. Before joining the Talanx Group, he worked as a consultant at McKinsey until 2014.

Claire McDonald will leave the company. “I would like to thank Claire for her contribution to HDI Global – under her watch we have seen good portfolio performance and international growth. I wish her all the best for the future”, said Torsten Leue, Chairman of Talanx AG’s Board of Management and Supervisory Board Chairman at HDI Global SE. “I am delighted that we have identified strong leaders from within our own company in Barbara Klimaszewski-Blettner and Dirk Höring. They are both highly experienced and will continue to drive our cultural transformation.”

Dr Edgar Puls, who is responsible for Industrial Lines on the Talanx Group’s Board of Management and chairs the Board of Management of HDI Global SE, added: “It has been a great pleasure to work with Claire over the past five years. In addition to her successful leadership of the UK & Ireland branches, she has also, in her board role, actively supported the branches and made significant contributions to HDI Global’s strategy and culture. I would like to wish her all the best for the future. Claire will continue to represent HDI Global in her role within the IUA until the end of the year.
